Lets pretend I was just appointed Mayor and Keeper of the Internet. Here's what I'd change. On day dot, I'll be eliminating all Portals. The average American has 200+ online accounts. Goodbye to the Sign-Up. Goodbye to the Sign-In. The Suggested Account. The Authenticator. The second Authenticator. And most importantly... goodbye to 'Forgot Password?' This will be replaced by.. nothing. OKAY? Nothing. In this ideal scenario, the consumer has to do absolutely nothing when clicking into and out of a website/appliation. Hush hush no need for the uproar. It's not that I want to lose any user security rather just a suggestion that the account making, the password creation, the blah blah blah, is all done on the backend. Perhaps that means an automatic facial recognition scan. A finger print. Some sort of IP address lock and key thing. Maybe it means another Cookie clause on the interface saying "we are gonna scan your face when you come to us is that okay its only going to be for your account so you don't have to make a portal" think about it. The next thing I'd do is really push businesses to get rid of QR codes. The design is recognizable, I get it. You see a QR code, you know to scan it. But who wants to look at a boring box of white and black squiggles all day? Thirdly, for one hour every single day, maybe 4 o'clock, I'd turn it all off. Yep, the big red button. Now, Rome wasn't built in a day. I am a non-technical person and of course there are potholes and a lack of true feasibility in a lot of what I'm saying. That said, technology is here, a major part of our life, and rapidly changing every day. so I thought I'd give my two cents. Maybe I'll even try to do something about it since this is an all person problem kinda thing. Who knows.
